PEC at Queens

Project Value –  £4.7 million

Completed – October 2006

Description

The brief was to provide a new extension to the Centre for Physical Education suitable for under- and post-graduate levels of study, as well as the provision of physical leisure facilities for students, staff and the general public. The Centre included an exercise fitness suite, free-weight training facilities, cardio-vascular and resistance exercise areas and climbing walls. Sports Science Research and Physiotherapy rooms, as well as administration offices, changing areas and a café were also within the extension.  The circular construction of the main building required a fresh approach to services routes and installations to ensure all requirements placed upon the systems by Queen’s were fully addressed, allowing the extension to be easily incorporated into the existing Building Management System and the Estate Services control systems used throughout Queen’s Estates department.
