Description
The brief was to provide new accommodation for Clinical Support and Regional Supplies Services, including three Conference/Seminar rooms, two IT suites, eight en-suite on-call bedrooms, on-call living and kitchen areas, 26 offices and four open plan office spaces, with staff rest areas and toilets, as well as a 20% floor area and 30% engineering services built-in capacity increase. Disabled access and facilities were also part of the brief. The new 2-storey future-proof building was located a short distance from the main hospital linked via a covered walkway, with all engineering services emanating from the nearby energy centre. High level and unrestricted access to the director of Estate Services ensured engineering services received a high priority and all the stops were pulled out to ensure the services infrastructure for the project was available.
