Ulster Maternity Unit, Dundonald Hospital

Project Description

The brief was to provide a new maternity unit, comprising all of the elements including out patients, delivery suite, theatres, home from home rooms, in patient ward accommodation and SCBU. Prior to the main work commencing several departments required to be decanted, out patients to new purpose built temporary accommodation and SCBU to a refurbished area within the existing main hospital. Close Client interface ensured that all of these enabling works were completed with minimum disruption to patients and staff. Part of the existing unit was to be demolished to facilitate the new building, with a large part of the existing unit remaining live and operational. This required detailed survey, investigation and co-ordination with the Design team and Client to ensure all aspects of this complicated situation were fully addresed. The full range of medical engineering services was included within this scheme.
